These are epics of India. They have given us a way to live. These are not just books or not just related to just one religion or school. They are so meaningful and they are deeply connected with our entire culture and heritage.

In our daily life, Ramayana and Mahabharata play an important role. Every home people read and discuss Ramayana and Mahabharata in our country.  The beauty of these books are they are not limited to some moment, they put an impact on every situation. Kansa, the tyrant ruler of Mathura, takes an oath to kill all the children of his sister Devaki and husband Vasudev because he comes to know through the akashvani or the Voice from the Sky that Devaki and Vasudev’s son will kill him. From that day he imprisons his sister and her husband and he starts killing all the newborn children of his sister very mercilessly. Like this, he kills almost  7 sons of his sister Devaki. On the auspicious midnight of Ashtami, when Lord Krishna was born with the blessings of Lord Vishnu, the baby Krishna was born in the Kansa’s jail where his mother and father were impressed. With the help of akashvani Vasudev miraculously unrestricted from the prison chains, he will be able to take Krishna safely to Nanda’s house in Gokul. There Nandlal and Yashoda take care of Lord Krishna.
