Karwa Chauth is a festival celebrated mostly in North India where married women fasts for one day from sunrise till the rise of the moon. Wives observe this fast to pray for the safety and long life of their husbands and breaks it only after seeing the moon. Sometimes, even the unmarried girls observe this fast either for their fiancé or for getting the desired husband in future. Women wear traditional attire, goes to the temple, and applies Mehendi in hands. This occasion also calls for sending gifts to the fasting ladies of the house.
